Based on initial experiences, the desire for a smaller, more maneuverable wheel quickly emerged. Initially, the 29ers were a bit spongy and hard to control when combined with a lot of suspension travel. To counteract this, the added value was recognized and the 27.5-inch wheels developed as a result were declared the preferred standard. Today, when choosing wheels, you no longer have to decide between large, smooth-rolling 29" wheels and small, maneuverable 26" wheels. The lower rolling resistance and optimal power transmission ensure significantly more effective locomotion both uphill and downhill. This 'new compromise' combines the particularly good handling of the slightly larger wheels with the agility and easy handling of the 26" wheels and has emerged as a real future trend. If you are more of a relaxed tourer who rides on firmer ground, a suspension travel of 100 mm to 120 mm is sufficient.
