Which reflectors do I need? – Show yourself in road traffic
To be seen by other road users, you need reflectors. There are now many different ways of attaching them to your bike. To ensure all-round protection and a high lateral reflective surface, we recommend combining several types.
Rim reflectors
Another option is the application of rim reflectors. These are glued directly to the rim and provide a good lateral reflection surface. Tiny glass beads processed on the film reflect or refract the light. The 3M adhesive film is extremely durable and resilient. For rim brakes, the rim must be high enough to be able to stick them on. When buying them, make sure that they are compatible with your bike. To stick them on both rims from all sides, you need approx. 40 adhesive strips.
Reflective tape
A flexible tape with a reflective surface can be attached to many different points on the bicycle. These tapes are usually equipped with a Velcro fastener and can also be mounted on the spokes. The advantage is that you can remove the tapes when riding during the day and thus keep a visually “cleaner” bike design.
Reflector spray for textiles
The almost colourless spray can be sprayed on almost all materials and offers further protection for your bike ride, especially in the dark season. The special spray has a reflective effect in the dark and is invisible in daylight. The effect is visible to motorists from a distance of 100 m and the applied material lasts for about a week, depending on the surface. Disadvantage: The spray must be applied several times to produce a high reflective effect and it washes out.
