German Technology Racing Team: Lia Schrievers is German XCE Champion
Kirchzarten: Last weekend, the mountain bike GTR team from Untermünkheim was able to make history. The surprise was perfect when Lia Schrievers from the German Technology Racing Team secured the championship title ahead of Marion Fromberger RSV Bad Griesbach and Nadine Rieder (AMG Rotwild).
The 20-year-old Lia Schrievers surprised the favourites. Before the final, however, she had already played herself into the foreground with a strong performance in the quarter and semi-finals.
In the mountain bike XCE (cross-country eliminator) discipline, 4 riders always race against each other. In the elimination process, the best are put on the podium at the end. So it went full throttle over and over again in individual heats through the town centre of Kirchzarten in the Black Forest. Schrievers was able to convince with strong performances in all heats.
“I trained the start with the national team’s technique coach Rene Schmidt, and that paid off today.”
Lia Schrievers
said the beaming winner in the interview. In the final heat, things really got down to business. The Bavarian Sprint Champion Marion Fromberger really stepped on the gas. Lia Schrievers was all the more happy about her victory, “I knew that I had pressure on the pedals, but I didn’t know that I could become German Champion. Now I have to let it sink in”.
Katleen Bock, also Team GTR, took 7th place in the small final.
Another top result of the weekend: Luis Neff takes 2nd overall in the Black Forest Ultra Bike Marathon over the 80 km distance.
