Bosch innovations – battery with 750 Wh, Kiox 300 and everything is networked

Bosch presented a new (drive) system at their keynote on 31 August (video here on YouTube) and showed where the future is heading in the e-bike sector. Finally, smartphone connectivity is being taken seriously ?. How this behaves in practice, of course, remains to be seen.

The following components were presented.

New Bosch battery with 750 Wh

Let’s start with the new battery: 750 watt hours is quite an announcement. More range and more vertical metres. Bosch talks about a 20% greater range than with a PowerTube 625. We like that 🙂

And the whole thing as an Intube. In other words: it will disappear completely into the frame of your e-bike and weighs “only” 4.4 kilograms.

The motor remains largely the same. Only the connections change. This means that it is not compatible with the old system. The Performance CX will still have 85 Nm of torque.

Over the Air: Updates via the eBike Flow app

If there are updates for your Bosch system in the future, you can conveniently do this yourself via the eBike Flow app. This way you can enjoy new riding modes or general improvements to the system. As easy as an update on your mobile phone.

But the app can do even more: it gives you the option to change and adjust the riding modes. You can control how much power the motor should support you with and when, or up to what speed.

We are curious to see how this works in practice.

Tracking – recording your tours

Now it is possible to record your tours and fitness data. Simply start riding and let it track you. If desired, the data can be synchronised with Apple Health on the iPhone.

Theft protection with the Bosch Connect module

Soon there will be a retrofit system to protect your e-bike against theft. Bosch has not yet revealed when the module will be available, but we will of course inform you when it is.

The module will alert thieves with a loud alarm and also give you the option to track your e-bike. You no longer have to install a third-party module or hide an Apple AirTag on your bike.
