7th place for the German-Technology-Racing-Team in Canada
Mount Saint Anne Canada
At the U23 Men’s World Cup in Mont Sainte Anne, Canada, Sven Straehle finished seventh, the best World Cup result of his career. The mountain biker from Untermünkheim crossed the finish line 2:52 minutes after winner Martins Blums from Latvia (1:23:37). Thus, Strähle crossed the finish line as the best German rider.
Martins Blums left no doubt from the start in Mont Sainte Anne that he wanted to add a second victory to his first in Lenzerheide. And he was able to do so. Blums made off right away on the first lap. With his victory, 45 seconds ahead of Albstadt winner Nadir Colledani (Italy), he is now close to the first MTB World Cup overall victory by a Latvian.
Strähle steadily ahead
The two strongest Germans on this day were Sven Strähle (German Technology Racing) and Robin Hofmann (KMC-Haibike). They parted ways in the second lap when Strähle was able to catch up with the next group, but Hofmann was still holding back.
Sven Strähle made up more and more ground in the second half of the race and also passed Frenchman Antoine Philipp in the penultimate of six laps to take seventh place.
“The legs were really good and I coped well with the conditions. It went steadily forward”
Sven Straehle
strähle commented on the best World Cup result of his career. “When it’s wet I like it anyway. I think I would have been able to do a lot today too if it had been a European World Cup as well.”
Robin Hofmann finished 46 seconds after Strähle, he had dropped back to 14th place in the meantime, but unlike the competition he was able to keep up his pace.
“I was safe in the downhills and I noticed that I could keep my pace. Tenth place is way above my expectations”
Robin Hofmann
hofmann said. Jakob Hartmann teammate of Straehle from the Untermünkheim team ended up in 30th place. Hartmann was not able to prepare optimally, had to wait more than a week for his bike which was lost in the air freight.
For the racers, it’s now straight back to the USA where another HC race will take place next weekend in Windham New York. The Untermünkheim camp hopes that if they are in good shape, they will be able to attract attention and score valuable UCI World Cup points.
Further remarkable results for the TURA Untermünkheim and the German-Technology-Racing-Team. Also at the weekend, the newly crowned German Champion Noah Neff from Braunsbach was able to achieve ninth place in an international comparison (TFJV) in France. His brother Luis Neff took 20th place at the Iron Bike Marathon in Ischgl after 79km and 3,800Hm.
