It's time to reassess how good you think a trail hardtail can be... Allow us to introduce the Acid: Its Sram Eagle 1x12 transmission has the range and performance you need for off-road adventures. We added a RockShox air-sprung fork, so that there's 100mm of smooth, easily adjustable travel on tap, with a remote lockout. Then we selected 2.1in tyres for comfort and grip, and hydraulic disc brakes so you're always on top of things. And the whole lot is fitted to our sleek, dropper-ready SizeSplit frame. The only component missing... is you.

Frame and equipment

The Acid's sleek looks are thanks to its Smooth Welded head tube and seat tube junctions. It incorporates a threaded bottom bracket and internal cable routing for long-lasting service and simple maintenance. There's even a flat disc mount that integrates seamlessly with our kickstand mount, and integrated mounting points for ACID mudguards and carrier. Updated geometry includes a lower top tube and tapered head tube for more confident handling, cables run internally for reduced maintenance, and there's plenty of room to run wide, grippy and comfortable 2.1in tyres. Our SizeSplit system has an expanded range too, so however tall you are there'll be an Acid that fits perfectly. And, as your skills increase, there's scope to fit a dropper post upgrade.

For whom is the Cube Acid suitable?

The middle class hardtails offer the right category for the more ambitious bike athlete. Bikes that can withstand any trail, but can still be used variably and do not seem out of place on a leisurely weekend tour. 27.5 inch wheels are the logical addition to the large 29 inch wheels and the optimum compromise for all smaller riders and trail fanatics. The combination of smoothness and manoeuvrability meets every wish of a biker. More agile than the 29 inch wheels and therefore the optimal choice for off-road driving and hairpin bends that leave you with little reaction time. This category offers the best choice especially for those changing from 26 inch wheels. 27.5 inch combines the best of two worlds and creates bikes that are not restricted in their use. Whether Fully or Hardtail - 27.5 inch is the golden mean and the perfect tyre size for all who want to use their mountain bike according to its purpose.

The advantages of 29 inch tires

29 inch is THE trend of the last few years, which was able to assert itself completely. Initially viewed critically by mountain bike purists and equipped with some teething troubles, the bike industry has recognized the trend and made it the new standard through continuous improvements. The advantage of the 29" tyres is the enormous running smoothness, which brings great advantages and saves power on long tours as well as uphill and downhill. Obstacles are easier to overcome due to the larger circumference of the wheels, and a greater distance is covered by turning the bottom bracket. By improvements and adjustments in the frame construction and the component selection, initial problems with the agility in the Trail and the optics of smaller frames were optimally balanced. Whether fully or hardtail, a 29 will take you far away.
